I haven't written a blog in ages but it's the new year and my main new years resolution is to be more productive. As I was finishing wiping my kitchen counters down after cleaning it, I started thinking about my 40 before 40 list. I've had to revise a few and I've completed a few more. It's all very exciting, well to me at least.
Let's start with the revisions.
Number 4. One month vow of silence. When I initially wrote the 40 before 40 list, Jack Jack wasn't in the picture. I can honestly say that it'll be impossible for my to have a two through six (depending on when I'm able to do it) year old boy running around with a silent mom for 30 days. This 40 before 40 item is really important to me so I don't want to scrap the whole thing. I'm going to do a one week vow of silence instead. I believe that's more realistic.
Number 7. Great White Shark tank dive. I'm adding this one to the list very begrudgingly. I was looking so forward to doing this but alas, not going to happen. A couple of months ago I was in the mall with a girl friend and they were doing virtual reality demos, YES PLEASE! We each tried it out. If you guessed that the demo was a shark tank dive then you get a shiny gold star. The demo started with me in a diving cage, super cool and my first thought was obviously "I hope I get to see a shark!" The beginning of the dive was great, I saw some sea turtles, lots of fish, then the cage goes deeper and it gets a little darker but still alright. I saw some jelly fish some more creatures and a sunken pirate ship and then the cage goes deeper and gets even darker. Have I mentioned that I'm scared of the dark in my past posts? Well I am, absolutely terrified, like a small child. Anyways, back to the virtual reality, my heart starts racing, I just know that something is going to pop out and I start looking for "it" for "it" spooks me. Terrible idea, out of the corner of my eye, in the shadows, a shark swims by. Now I don't know if you've tried a really good virtual reality set up before, let me tell you, it's incredible. You can look up, down, every direction, you're completely immersed and you're wearing huge headphones so all of the sounds just add to the experience. Now the girl helping me with all of this has a big flat screen tv that shows her what I'm looking at. Back to me, my heart is racing even faster because I'm so floored by how realistic everything I'm seeing and hearing is and BAM a shark comes up from underneath me and turns away at the last second, I was so scared that I had my feet up (I was in a chair thank goodness or I would have fallen over for sure). So at this point I'm trying extra hard not to see the shark coming and I have my head cocked to the left looking at the emptiness of the deep ocean and it dawns on me that she can see what I'm looking at and that I must look like an absolute fool, I almost start to laugh at myself when a fucking shark comes out of literally nowhere and hits the cage! I start screaming "GET THIS OFF OF ME, I'M DONE I'M DONE!" I hear this poor 19 year old girl telling me that it's going to be ok and to just close my eyes but she's so muffled because of the headphones and I can still hear everything and I can't close my eyes because then I might get eaten . ahhhh she gets it all off of me and I very quickly remember that I'm in the middle of South Centre mall. After that little episode I realized that there's no way in hell I could do in a shark cage, I was so scared I was almost crying, my girl friend was comforting but definitely had a few laughs. Side note, she watched the whole demo, she's so brave!
Number 11. Follow a random semi truck for 7 days. There's so many reasons why this one unfortunately has to be removed. I still think it would be a wild or boring or funny adventure but let's look at the facts. I'm a mom of 3 kids, if I get a chance to be away for 7 days that's probably not the most productive use of my free time. It's also not necessarily the safest idea that I've ever had. . . so, it's gone.
Number 25. Perform a set at Coasters. This is probably my favourite item on my 40 before 40 list. I have every intention of completing it, just needs a little fine tuning. I don't foresee getting a band together for reasons that are out of my control. I've come up with a couple of ideas that might work. Hubby and I do a set at an open mic night or maybe guest sing with my favourite local band. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to do this one but I'm going to sing on a stage with a band and I'm going to have a blast and a half doing it!
Number 27. Watch an American Civil War reenactment. There's a place in Calgary that does war reenactments! Why on earth does the war reenactment that I watch have to be an American one?? Silly me.
That's it! Those are my revisions! As for the ones that I can add to the DONE list, I'm adding number 7 shark tank dive, it felt real to me and number 20 jump off a high dive. Holy moly! They are so much higher than I thought. I was swimming with my mom and girls and with a little (or maybe a lot) of encouragement from my Mommy I pushed myself and did it. It took me a while to get the nerve to do it once I was standing on the edge of giant concrete diving platform, so long that I started attracting a bit of an audience which just made it so much worse. I planned on just stepping off but I did a little run and jump then promptly closed my eyes and screamed. The adrenaline I felt after was great! So much that just thinking about it gives me a rush!
I have been working very slowly on my 40 before 40 list as the last couple of years have been pretty distracting, pregnancy, three kids instead of two, all that jazz. We've gotten into a nice routine now and life is feeling more organized than it has been in a very long time. I'm planning on adding my last five 40 before 40 items by the end of February and completing numbers 8, 14, 15 (possibly 16), 19, 32, 33 and 35 this year. Stay tuned!

Go away
I have blocked you in every way that I know possible on the internet and you are still popping up. Now with a fake account. I've now blocked that one as well. Go away. I wish that I never met you. I would give anything to be able to go back in time to Mr.Sitko's class and listen to my mom when she said that I should stay away from you. Being your friend was a mistake. I hate you.

40 before 40, what I've completed so far and the rest of the list, well almost.
The 40 before 40 continues!
I'm very happy to say that I can check two things off of my 40 before 40 list. The first thing that I completed was number 9, take a pole dancing class. Oh my goodness, so much fun! I ended up doing it as a very last minute birthday party for my 32nd birthday. I was joined by 9 amazing, adventurous and sexy ladies (who shall remain nameless as some prefer not to be named). By the end of the 1 hour class we rocked a little routine that would have made even the most talented stripper want to take notes. I have to give some serious credit to ladies who can pole dance, what a workout! The 10 of us were all comparing injuries and sore muscles after the class. Thank you so much for helping me cross my first item off of my list those who shall remain nameless.
The second thing that I can cross off is number 12, read the Shining. Quite frankly, I'm pissed off about this one. How many times have you said or heard, "The book is so much better than the movie", tons. With that statement in mind I decided to read with caution, my plan was to only read it during the day. Reading during the day + two five year olds at home = NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN! New plan, I'll read it while the girls are at ballet, that's 45 minutes every Saturday. That was going great until lovable me made friends with all the other dance moms. New plan, I'll read while I'm running on the treadmill at the gym, SUCCESS! After a little bit of a learning curve, almost falling off of the treadmill a couple of times and figuring out it's best to use a giant font I was on my way. It still ended up taking a ridiculously long time to finish but as of this morning I'm finished and disappointed. So disappointed in fact that I'm questioning the scariness of the movie because I could have definitely read the book during my usual reading time before bed. It really wasn't nearly as scary as my memory of the movie but as a precaution I stuck to my day time only plan. I really preferred the movie or at least my memory of the movie.
I'm almost finished writing my list, here's a little blurb on the new items:
21. Complete Zombies, Run! 5K
I'm sure a lot of people have heard of the running program couch to 5K (if not, it's a program designed to get anyone from a couch potato to be able to run a 5K), well Zombies, Run! 5K is just that but with a zombie theme. It's so entertaining! Basically the story is that you find yourself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, get taken in by a camp and they are training you to be one of their runners. Your name is Runner 5 throughout the story. I've done a few different c25K programs but this one is my favouite for a few reasons. Yes, I'm a zombie nut but my love for this app is so much more than that. This app incorporates knee lifts and heel lifts, had I been using this app consistently before my 10K run last year with my cousin Kim, I wouldn't have pulled a muscle so bad in my foot that I needed to massage it for almost an hour after our run. Another thing that I love about this app is that it's a story that unfolds the more you run. There are some days that I can't wait to do my next run to hear what is going to happen next. I just finished week 3 day 3! Which leads me to number 22 on the list.
22. Complete Zombies, Run! missions
The Zombies, Run! 5K was actually the second app done by the creators, the first was Zombies, Run! The two are work with each other. In this app there is more story as it's not a training app and as the story unfolds you "pick up" different supplies and get chased by zombie hoards, you have to increase your speed by 20% to outrun them. The app uses the GPS on the phone to know your speed. It's a great design because it can be used walking/running or running/sprinting. I've recently found a great community of Zombies, Run! users who share photos off their runs and tips. I believe that I'm on mission 9 of season 1, it's been really cold outside lately and I'm a wuss.
23. Run a half marathon
The farthest distance that I've gone on a run is 10K, a half marathon is just over 21K. I honestly can't imagine running that far right now but there was a time that I couldn't imagine running 10K and I've done it a few times now. The feeling of accomplishment I have whenever I cross a finish line is truly an amazing experience. I well up with tears each time. I believe that between completing my Zombies, Run! 5K and all of the Zombies, Run! missions and some long distance training I'll get there one day.
24. Host summer Olympics with Gardar
A friend of mine, Gardar and I had a fantastic conversation about hosting a summer Olympics with our friends. I don't really want to get to into this one as I don't want to give away any ideas.
25. Perform a set at Coasters
My hubby and a few of his friends have agreed to help me out on this one. They all play instruments and we're going to get a set list together and rehearse and play at set at Coasters (or some other hole in the wall that will let us get on their stage). I'm am uber excited about this one! I've always wanted to be a rockstar!
26. Learn how to juggle
I really should change the title of this one to "Try and learn how to juggle" as I've tried very unsuccessfully before. Does anyone know how to juggle who'd be interested in trying to teach me?
27. Watch an American civil war reenactment
I honestly don't know what else to say about this one. The idea of a whole bunch of men dressed in civil war era military gear acting out a war is really fascinating to me.
28. Host a flash mob
Oh my goodness, this is a biggie for me, huge! It has to be perfect. I'm so excited and nervous about this one.
29. Take a photo of Maggie and a photo of Lily in my wedding dress
I think that this would be a beautiful keepsake and it's a list item that I'd like to get done this summer while they are still quite small. A friend of mine, Lise, is a brilliant photographer and fingers crossed that she'd like to help me out on this one.
30. Go to the ballet Swan Lake
I was a ballerina for 17 years of my life and I have missed it every day since I stopped. Maybe one day I'll get back into it, until then I'd love to see the ballet Swan Lake.
31. Sing Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Meat Loaf at karaoke with Sandy
Yeah, I don't know what to say about this one, haha. I've given myself this unwritten rule while making this list, that anything that I add to it has to stay on it no matter how silly or ridiculous it might be (see number 27).
32. Pick a part at Pick-a-Part
How neat would it be to dig through old vehicles and unscrew this part or that? Yeah I'm super stoked about this one. This one initially started when Geoff and I were having a problem with the back door of our van, well the van is no longer in need of that repair but I still really want to go to pick-a-part so if anyone needs a hand finding something, I'm your girl!
33. Chase a rainbow
I've been looking into this one a little bit lately as it seems to be the rainy season. I really want to try and find the end of a rainbow!
34. Find the surviving ancestors of the dogs who were rescued from the Titanic.
Ok full disclosure time, I may have had a couple of drinks when I decided that this would be a perfect thing to add to my 40 before 40 list but as you learned on number 31, if I write it on the list it stays on the list. I have no idea where to even start with this one as a quick internet search brings up such contrasting information.
35. Give Christmas baskets to families in need with Kim.
Shortly after Christmas I was chatting with my friend Kim about how our Christmas' went and we came to the conclusion that between our mutual friends we could sponsor a couple of families for Christmas. This is a very feel-good item on my list and so doable but something that will mean so much to a family in need.
Well that's where I'm at for now, I have 5 items left to add on my list and I'm thinking of altering number 11 as I've been informed that it could be very dangerous. So if you have any interest in joining me on any of my ventures please let me know! The more the merrier!

40 before 40
I was inspired by my friend Lindsay's 30 before 30 list and accomplishments (read her blog here, it's very fun!) and I decided that I'm going to borrow her idea and do a 40 before 40. Ugh 40. . . moving on. My list is not grand or extravagant it's just a bunch of random things that I've always wanted to do or that I've been too scared to do or that I think would be funny to do. I only have 20 so far but I'm sure I'll come up with the other 20 soon. If you have any suggestions please let me know, I'm very open!
Here's what I have so far:
1. Drive to San Diego.
One of my "bucket list" items is to drive until it's warm (I have this whole north means cold, south means warm thing. I know it's flawed, that's not what this blog is about). I figure I could do a two for one here. I honestly don't remember how Geoff and I ended up picking San Diego, we were probably talking about Anchorman!
2. See the Full House house.
YES, I'm aware that it's in San Francisco, this is a different list item. I am most likely going to do both on the same trip.
3. Have a vacation alone with girl friends.
Ideally 1, 2 and 3 could all be down at the same time but who knows what will happen. One of my oldest and dearest friends, Rachelle Rimmer, has already signed up for this one and another dear friend Mel gave me a great suggestion. I initially wanted this to be a month long trip but she pointed out that it might be rather hard for people to get a month off of work. She suggested having friends come and go throughout the month. I think it's perfect.
4. One month vow of silence.
This one, although invokes laughter when I tell to people, is probably the second most important list item to me. I won't be able to do this one for a few years because I think that the girls will need to be a bit older to understand and for us to still be able to function as a normal family.
5. Learn sign language.
I've always wanted to learn sign language ever since I was in Mrs.Guspie's junior high class and my friends and I taught ourselves the sign language alphabet and would spell out words to each other from across the class. It was our answer to not being allowed to pass notes in class. My friend Yuval Greenfeld has signed (pardon the pun) up for this one and the next one.
6. Have a serious argument in sign language.
I use to watch The L Word, love that show. There's this one scene where a deaf woman and her partner are in a really serious argument. The partner knew sign language so that whole scene was dead silent. It was so intense, their hands were moving so fast and there was so much emotion. Yuval and I tend to "debate". . . about everything. It's all with love and heartfelt but it's true. I couldn't think of a better person to do number 5 and 6 with.
7. Great White Shark tank dive.
I love sharks, Great Whites are my favourite. I have wanted to do this for as long as I can remember. I had an opportunity when my parents took Douglas and I to Hawaii but my mother simply said, "What if you die?" That meant that I wasn't allowed but I'm no longer on a family vacation and I will make sure not to be when I do number 7.
8. Learn to change a tire.
I believe that this is a skill I should have. Melody Forbes has offered up her time to teach me this one.
9. Take a pole dancing class.
I think this will be really hard! Pole dancers, although I don't encourage their choices, are very strong and some are quite talented.
10. Do a proper baseball slide.
I'm not a baseball fan at all, I know very little about the game but when I think about baseball my dream is to slide onto a base. It doesn't have to be home, any base. I think that moment would be so exhilarating, your heart pounding knowing you only have seconds to be get there, running as hard as you can, your lungs burning from pushing yourself, watching the ball from the corner of your eye and praying to make it there before it does. Knowing that sliding below the glove will be your only option. You drop with your feet leading, everything goes silent until the inertia of your foot slamming in to the base jolts your whole body. You smile and think to yourself, I made it, I can breathe again. I want that feeling.
11. Follow a random semi truck for 7 days.
This sounds crazy I know. I just think it would be so random! Go to a truck stop and pick a truck with an out of country license plate and go!
12. Read The Shining.
That movie scared the crap out of me. I don't even remember how long it has been since I watched it. Stephen King is so talented and I think I owe it to him to read his novel seeing as his film is still giving nightmares. I'm truly scared to do this one.
13. Get my PADI.
I should have done this at least 10 years ago. I've missed out on so many opportunities. I've done "entry" dives in several different countries that could have been proper dives. All of those entry dives were amazing but I know that I short changed myself.
14. Rent a table at a flee market and sell painted rocks for way too much money with my Auntie Noelle.
I see no reason that this one needs any further explanation.
15. Get wheels on my skateboard.
Years ago my friend Gail invited me to rock and roll bingo. I asked her what that was. She explained it me to as regular bingo but that you win prizes instead of money. I (jokingly) said that I'm only going if I can win a skateboard, she laughed and told me that she had no idea what the prizes were. I won a bingo that night and I won a skateboard. It was so funny. The skateboard is only the deck, no wheels. I've decided that it needs wheels and to set a deadline.
16. Learn how to skateboard.
I'm going to have this brand new skateboard, why not put it to good use. My friends growing up were primary boys and a few of them skateboarded. I always wanted to learn but I was the girl who watched with pride on the sidelines, silly girl. It's my time to learn, nothing fancy, I'm not even attempting to learn any tricks but to be able to go a few blocks would be nice.
17. Visit the gopher hole museum in Torrington.
For the last 9 years every time Geoff and I are driving from Calgary to Edmonton I ask him if we can go to the gopher hole museum, his answer is obvious. I have to be honest though, up until about 2 months ago I envisioned the museum as glass boxes showing different gopher homes (holes) but then I read an article about it and it's actually a bunch of stuffed gophers posed (picture the mice Steve Carrell's character in Dinner for Schmucks dressed up but gophers).
18. Meet Jason Maas.
I use to be a big Edmonton Eskimo fan, my brother bought me season tickets one year and I was hooked! I went to almost every game for 2 seasons. Jason Maas was my favourite. Then I went travelling. One of the really neat things that the Eskimos use to do is that they would call their season ticket holders each year to ask if they were renewing. While I was travelling, who calls asking for me. . .my parents told him that I was away and how sad I'd be as I'm such a big fan. They ended up meeting him at a charity event and got his autograph for me reminding him of the phone call. I have no idea the likelihood of this one actually happening but I'm putting it on. I may not follow the CFL anymore and I know that he doesn't play anymore but Maas will always be my favourite!
19. Volunteer to help end Alzheimer's.
I'm not sure in which capacity I'd like to volunteer yet, if it would be on the fundraising side or if it would be on the patient care side or something else all together but I want to help end Alzheimer's in any way that I can. Number 19 is the most important one on my list.
20. Jump off of a high dive.
Like a really really high one. I'm terrified to do this, sick to my stomach as I'm typing terrified. Cheers to facing fears!
There you have it. I'm halfway done writing out my 40 before 40 list. I've downloaded The Shining (number 12), that's as far as I've gotten on actually starting any of them. I have 8 and a half years to do them, seems like a long time but I'm getting on them ASAP so that I don't run out of time. If you have suggestions for any new ones please let me know. Also, if there is one or more that you'd like to do with me, I'd be thrilled to have you join me on my 40 before 40 quest! Thanks again Lindsay for your inspiration!

Day 2 went great! I started out with running 20 flights of stairs first and then I did the strength training. When reading the exercises for today I thought it was going to be all arms again even though the description said it was pretty much all back. Well I was quite surprised! I was lifting weights and using a tension band but my arms feel fine. Definitely used the muscle groups that it said in the description, I suppose I shouldn't be that shocked. It always amazes me the way the body works. Feeling good, hoping to get in another run today.

So it's been a while. I've decided to start doing Jamie Eason's LiveFit 12 Week training program. Let's see how it goes. Today is day 1. I just finished a yummy and healthy breakfast. I'm off to get changed and then do Day 1. I'll be back shortly to report!
Alright, that was good. I found the pushups the most challenging. There were a couple of exercises that use gym equipment that I had to modify as I'm doing this at home. Still pushed my hardest and my arms are a little wobbly!
I'm still deciding if I'm going to do her workouts everyday or alternate with a cardio day. . . I'll see if I can get an hour run in today then I'll make the call.

Boot Camp Day 3!!
Last night I just couldn't fall asleep until just past midnight so I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to boot camp this morning or not. Then when Geoff got home from work around 12:30 he told me that he needed to work early so I needed to leave boot camp early. Well if that's not two signs to skip boot camp then I don't know what would be! So I still set my alarm and drifted off to sleep. It went off around five to five and I thought for a quick minute and decided to take the day off (cause I haven't had enough days off already, haha) and went back to sleep. Then at 5:20 I got a text from my boot camp babe letting me know that she wouldn't be making it today. I text back to let her know that I wouldn't be there either. I stared at the ceiling for about 30 seconds and thought two things, "Everything happens for a reason, if BCB hadn't text me then I wouldn't have woke up AND I've never regretted a workout, however I have regretted skipping one". After a quick assessment of time and what needed to be done before running out the door in less then 10 minutes I decided to get my butt in gear!
Wowzers! It was a tough one today! It was all upper body today.
We started with a short jog then jumped right into it! The first circuit was bicep curls, jumping jacks, tricep extensions, jumping jacks, pushups, jumping jacks and last chest presses. We did this twice through and boy were my arms shaking. Then we did that same circuit but instead of jumping jack we did step ups and downs on a park bench. Moving on. . . spider pushups, good mornings, arm rotations, sit ups and dips.
To be completely honest it was an effort to turn the wheel on the drive home. I had to leave 15 minutes early today so I missed the stretches and the whole drive home I promised myself that I would stretch as soon as I got home but my bed was just calling my name far to loud to not go and make sure it was ok. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to regret not stretching tomorrow (or Saturday) but the two hour nap was totally worth it.. . for now.
Tomorrow is suppose to be a hard one, eck!
I'm so happy that I pushed myself to go. It's so easy to not and there a million excused to not but the ONE reason to go is far more important than any other that I could have come up with. It's raining and crappy outside but I feel great! I'm excited for tomorrows adventure!

Boot Camp Day 2!!
Cardio cardio cardio! That was the name of the game for boot camp day 2! We met our new trainer, Heather, she's just as wonderful as Andrea so I think I'll be alright with the switching. She also claims that she's the "nice" one of the two (they own or use to own a boot camp workshop or something together, haha, I pay attention good) and their training styles seem to be pretty similar.
Today we started with a brisk walk, jog, walking lunges, jog and then a brisk walk again. Then we moved on to sprinting across a field and running backwards to the starting place, did that a couple of times. Next we alternated between doing toe pushups against a tree and jumping switches, during that I have to say the tree bark on my hands hurt more than the exercise, so that could mean either the tree was really rough or I wasn't pushing myself hard enough, I choose to think the first option, haha. After that we went back to the field and did big squat jumps moving forward across it, way way harder than it looks! Quick water break, back to the field for some alternating high knees and bum kicks, one minute each. Squat walks forward across the field and back. Alternating high knees and bum kicks again. Squat walks to the side across the field and back. Quick water break and STRETCHES!
It went well. Definitely feeling some sore muscles, especially the boobie ones from all the pushups, who knew my knockers would ever get this sore! Between boot camp yesterday morning, dodgeball last night and boot camp this morning I think a day off is deserved!
Unfortunately I'll be missing boot camp for a few days because I'm heading to Edmonton to see my family and go out to the lake. I'll still be keeping up on my own though and working my Mama along with me!

Boot Camp Day 1!
Well the hardest day is over. I don't mean the hardest day physically as today was just a fitness assessment, I mean the hardest day of being nervous about who the trainer was, who is all in the group, the fitness levels of everyone, all that jazz! Our group is fantastic! My partner in crime, Alynn, you mean the world to me, I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't for you, thank you!
Here's where we are, the trainer (for two of the four days each week) is Andrea, super nice and motivating. Our group, fabulous, seriously, I love our group already! The fitness levels of everyone, who cares, this is about me! Any fears I had are long gone, this is one of the best decisions I have ever made! Loving the boot camp (hoping to remember that mantra in a few weeks, haha).
Today we started with a light jog for about 5 minutes. Then moved on to push ups, I did 10 traditional and 18 knee. Sit ups, haha, oh my, I certainly need to work on those, I did 19 with Alynn holding my feet, thanks again love, haha! Last of the strength training was a wall hold, as if you are sitting on an invisible chair, I held for 127 seconds. Some stretches and a job for 10 minutes to wrap it up.
Overall I think I did pretty good, I probably could have pushed myself a little harder but for my first day I'm very content with burning 461 calories in 59 minutes.
Dodgeball tonight and boot camp day 2 tomorrow morning! Woot woot!

Frustrated! (WARNING WARNING Angry rant ahead!)
I don't know how to get out of this awful funk! I want to scream!
The never ending snow and being sick for three weeks has definitely played a part but I'm just so frustrated! I'm frustrated with losing weight, I'm frustrated with money, I'm frustrated with potty training, I'm frustrated with house cleaning, I'm frustrated with sick little ones, I'm frustrated with living so far from my family, I'm frustrated with living so far from my friends, I'm frustrated with BEING FRUSTRATED!
You know how when you spell a word or look at a word so many times it starts to look funny, yeah, I'm there.
I've tried all my "relaxation" techniques, nothing is working. It feels like the more I'm trying to get everything together the more it's all falling apart. "Jack of all trades, Master of none". I first heard that quote spoken to a class mate in high school and thought it was the worst insult someone could be given, especially to such a talented girl. I, on the other hand, feel like the walking talking definition of that quote. I have/want a million things to be going on.
I use to have quite a knack for juggling all that life serves up but where I am currently, no circus will be hiring anytime soon! I'm not sure which is the lesser of two evils, focus solely on one aspect and let everything else fall apart or struggle to maintain (I use that term very very loosely) all that is thrown my way.
Urgh, blah, "Debbie Downer" at her finest. My rant is over, deep breath, big smile and off I go!

Day 14 — Talk about the cuteness of your pets.
The cuteness of my pet, there could not be a worse topic for today! So far today, my dog (which I acquired through marriage) has puked on my bedroom floor and on my couch. She is currently outside on the step begging to come in between hacks and coughs. What? Is that not cute? Down right disgusting is what it is! I suppose that is one of those things that you just deal with when you have a pet.
Alright, I feel bad about not saying a single cute thing about our dog, so I added a very cute photo of her. Enjoy!
Sort of off topic but still pet related, yesterday I was at the pet store and I came across disposable diapers for dogs!! I couldn't stop laughing and I decided that it needed to be shared with the blog world! So, if nothing else, I hope you enjoy the photo.

Day 13 — How do you think others view you?
I'm not doing very good at this "30" day challenge am I? Oh well. Here's today's, how do I think others view me? Oh dear Lord, I have no idea.
I think others view me as goofy and emotional. Both are correct. I really don't know what else to say for this one. Hmm, well if you have a view on me that you'd like to share, feel free to leave a comment! Maybe I should retract that. . .

Day 12 — Explain how you got one of your scars.
Oh I have a good scar to tell a story about, actually I think it's the only scar I have.
On the right lower part of my neck I have what looks like a little patch of freckles. It is very easy to see in the sun but a bit hard to find indoors. It is in fact a scar, a burn scar. The culprit of my scar. . .mushroom soup!
The incident happened in 2004 the day before my cousins high school grad. I was making myself some mushroom soup for dinner. I brought it to a boil and immediately poured it into a bowl. I then grabbed the bowl, my cell phone, the house phone and a spoon and headed downstairs to watch some TV with my brother. I'm sure you all remember Juice Box.
Well if you've known me for any length of time you know that I fall on stairs all the time. I don't know what it is about them but I just seem to have trouble grasping the concept of how they work. I've fallen up stairs, down stairs, I've fallen over railings and while standing still on a step I've managed to tumble to the ground. I'm sure this makes it quite clear as to where I'm headed with my blog entry.
So hands and arms full up I was on my way. I don't think I got past the second step when I slipped. Phones everywhere, spoon nowhere to be found and boiling mushroom soup all over my face and neck. I screamed while my back pounded on each step until I hit the landing then I was just screaming. My brother came running up to see what the hell was going on. Apparently because of my shrieks he thought I had broken my arm and was preparing to see a bone sticking out as he reached the landing. There was soup everywhere! Literally everywhere!
I could barely wash my face after that because the burns hurt to bad. Think of the last time you burnt your hand on something and how bad it hurt to do anything, yeah, that was on my face and neck! The next day I looked like a sloppy burn victim who had gotten beat up as well. I looked like I had two black eyes and caked on egg all over the right side of my face and down my neck. It was horrible.
Well it all healed up, thank goodness! The only thing that remains to keep the memory of that awful moment is the patch on my neck that never went away.

Day 11 — Share a story from your childhood.
Well blog world, it has been far too long! Back to the 30 day challenge!
Today's challenge is to share a story from my childhood. Oh my goodness, I have so many. I suppose a fond memory that sticks out would be of my brother (I can't remember his hidden identity name. . ) Juice Box. It wasn't one incident but something that he use to do with me when I was small.
I loved stuffed animals and I had a ton of them. Well Juice Box use to hold them a certain way so that he could control their arms and head to make it look like they were moving on their own. He'd do a different voice for every single one of them and get so into it that you would forget he was doing it all.
He would do this during car rides, at home, wherever. I'm pretty lucky to have such a great brother!

Day 10 — Talk about a regret you have.
A regret I have. . .wow. . .that's heavy. I try very hard not to regret things. I think that everything that we do, good or bad makes us who we are today. After taking a few days off to really think about this I have came up with my only true regret.
My regret is letting an old friend hurt me so badly over and over again to the point that it now affects each and every one of my relationships with other women.
I'm so guarded because of everything that she did to me that now, as soon as any girl friend gets close to me I run away or I cause tension just so that she can't hurt me the way my old friend did. The positive side is that I'm finally seeing myself do this and trying to vocalize it to those friends who I feel I do this too, so that at least they know and will hopefully understand that I love them dearly.
I want to do a little shout out to my dear and oldest friend Claire for helping me see that I don't need people like that in my life and that I never did anything wrong in the first place. Everyday I'm healing a little more but it's hard. Thank you Claire for helping me find peace.
I suppose I couldn't have stopped the first incident but letting her back into my life several times afterward so that she could hurt me all over again was 100% my fault.
You can't hurt me any more! I'm more than done with you. I don't need to delete you from my life because you don't even deserve that much. Yes, my heart still carries the scars you gave but it doesn't carry even one ounce of you. Goodbye.
My regret is letting an old friend hurt me so badly over and over again to the point that it now affects each and every one of my relationships with other women.

Day 09 — A photo you took.
I hope you aren't looking for a life changing, inspirational, moving photo. . . This is Cali, the wonder dog or the devil dog, depending on the day. I like to dress her up for Halloween, she on the other hand does not like to be dressed up for Halloween or any other day for that matter.

Day 08 — Describe the style you had 10 years ago.
Oh goodness, I don't know. Hmm, let's see I was really into very tiny shirts and old man pants. Yes, you read that correctly. OLD. . . .MAN. . . . . PANTS. An idea shopping day for me would be to hit up some trendy store and find the littlest t-shirt there was and then mosey on over to Value Village to find some old man pants.
I wish so dearly that I could find a photo, hmm, alright, I'm going to try.
Ok, I've hunted and I could only find a couple and not the one I was looking for but blog world, mark my words, I'm going to keep looking and when I find it I'll post it because it sums up my style very very well.
Anyhoo, the photos that I did find are pretty close to how I attempted to dress often. I say "attempted to" because my dear Mother would have none of it and forced me to sneak clothes out of the house on a daily basis, can you imagine!
Speaking of my parents and my dress code. My poor Daddy to this day swears I'm colour blind and has tried over and over again to give me fashion advice, I still haven't really mastered that whole "matching thing". Sorry Daddy.
My Mother on the other hand stole my absolute favourite shirt when I was about 17 and still will not admit it!! Mother, if you are reading this, could you come clean to the world please. It was this itsy bitsy grey shirt that said "Las Vegas 69", damn I looked hot in that, haha. So hot in fact, that I will never ever ever in a million years even let my girls know that it existed.
Moving on from the clothing. The next part of my style, if you can call it that, would be the key ring I wore on a chain around my neck. I never went anywhere without it. In fact, I even wore it to grad, around my ankle but it was still on my person. That's a long story I'm certainly not getting into right now but I will say that I cried my eyes out when I lost it while swimming in the lake.
There you have it. Eighteen (actually, a little closer to seventeen but you get the just of it) year old Jenn. Enjoy!

Day 07 — A photo that makes you happy.
Today's assignment is a photo that makes me happy. I've never added a photo to a blog so this will be a learning process. Cross your fingers for me that it works. The first is a photo of Maggie and Lily when they were around 2 months old. It's so goofy but even then their personalities shined through! The last one makes me happy and sad. It's a photo of my Grandma and Grandpa Micklos the last time I seen them. I miss you guys so much, love you.

Day 06 — Your favourite music video.
My favourite music video?? Oh dear, I have no idea. Are music videos still on TV? The only shows I ever see on Much Music or MTV are teen reality TV. That being said, even as a kid I was never into watching music videos. Hmm I guess I'll just think of the couple that come into my head.
I suppose "Video Killed the Radio Star" would be the first music video that comes to mind. I love the song but the video is awful, almost painful to watch all the way through in all honesty. It was the first music video MTV played so that's exciting I suppose but it is truly awful, haha, sorry Buggles, I love you guys just not the video. Wait, what the hell am I going on about, this is suppose to be about a music video that I like, haha, oh my, how I go off like that I'll never know.
Alright let's try this again. "Groove is in the Heart", please don't ask me to explain why I like this video but I do. Something about the way they dance just makes me happy inside. Especially at 1:14, 1:22, 1:26, 2:07, 3:15, 3:51, yeah, ok, that was a complete waste of time writing that all down. The whole thing, it's great, stop judging, I can read your mind! The slide whistles are pretty rad, let's all at least agree on that. And come on, that weird little pony-tail-bun thing the one guy is rocking, who isn't jealous of being able to pull that look off!? Ok ok, I'm done now!
P.S. Check out this wicked fine blog!!
